Why are chlorofluorocarbons so good as refrigerants?

Chlorofluorocarbons have properties that are non-flammable, tasteless and odourless while being chemically stable. Another ideal property is that hey have boiling points close to zero degrees Centigrade making them ideal for use as refrigerants in, air conditioners, freezers and refrigerators

It is the use in these items that CFC is contributing to the depletion of the Ozone layer with dangerous implications for the earth and human beings in general.
