Does rain help red tide?

Scientists speculate that rainfall could feed the harmful blooms that cause the red tides, thus rains help in prolonging the red tide phenomenon.

A red tide is a phenomenon of discoloration of the sea surface. It is a common name for harmful algal blooms occurring along coastal regions. The algae blooms in the red tides release harmful toxins that are dangerous for human and aquatic life.
