What are the two major political parties in the US today?

Only two major parties dominate US politics. They are the Democratic Party and the Republican Party. Yet other parties, such as the Reform, Libertarian, Socialist, Natural Law, Constitution, and Green Parties can promote candidates in a presidential election.
