Which factors helped the British conquer Bengal?

The British were able to conquer Bengal due to its superior troops and through employing deft political maneuvering (in other words bribry) which helped in securing the support of Mir Jaffar, one of the commanders of the Bengal Army. His defection during the Battle of Plassey would prove to be a crucial factor in the British victory.
