HP Board Class 8

The Himachal Pradesh Board of School Education has been established in 1969, with its headquarters in Shimla, which later shifted to Dharamshala in January 1983. The Education board prescribes, syllabus, courses of instructions and text books for school education in Himachal Pradesh besides conducting examinations based on courses. The Board also publishes textbooks for class 1st to 12th. The Board conducts examinations for the following classes and courses: 10th, 12, JBT and TTC.

In order to cater to the needs of students, the Board has also established 26 Book Distribution & Guidance/Information Centres in the state. At present more than 8000 schools are affiliated with the Board. The current Secretary of the HPBOSE is Dr. Harish Gajju (HAS) appointed by the Government of Himachal Pradesh Sh. Rajiv Shankar (IAS) is the current Chairman of the Board.

The curriculum of Class 8 is prescribed by HPBOSE. For various subjects, the board formed a committee of skilled subject matter experts, who is responsible for designing the curriculum. The committee designs full-fledged textbooks and syllabus for Class 8 students. The Board is the sole authority to revise or update the syllabus of Class 8 and its textbooks.

Apart from performing numerous functions, the board also aims at developing the non-academic aspects i.e, the extracurricular filed. It also takes care of the financial facet by providing scholarships for the deserving candidates.
