What is global warming?

Global warming is the long-term effect of heating of earth’s climate due to human activities, primarily fossil fuel burning, which increases heat-trapping greenhouse gas levels in Earth’s atmosphere.

Global warming was first observed during the pre-industrial period of 1850 and 1900. The worst effect of global warming is the melting of polar ice caps that will increase the sea levels, putting coastal regions at risk.
