- The three shrines in the temple collectively called Trikootalayam are dedicated to Lord Vishnu, Lord Shiva and the Sun God, Surya.
- 1000 richly carved pillars are built in the shape of the star to adorn the temple. These pillars are constructed in such a way that none of the pillars obstruct the view of the shrine.
- The Chalukya style of architecture is one of the finest examples.
- An impressive 6ft statue of Nandi which is a monolith of black basalt is present at the entrance of the temple.
