The Anti-Partition movement was a movement initiated on 7 August 1905 to protest against the partition of Bengal. The leaders of the protest movement declared it to be a day of national mourning throughout Bengal.
The Anti-Partition Movement brought about a qualitative change in the Indian National Movement. It attracted a vast mass of the Indian population, regardless of class or caste distinction, into the mainstream of nationalist political activity.
