Water is one of the most important requirements of human beings. It is used for multi-purposes – drinking, cleanliness, agriculture and industries. The shortage or absence of water can lead to disputes between the states, which are known as inter-state water disputes.
The unequal distribution of water among states can disturb federal relations. Water disputes arising from the need for agriculture for irrigation has had the most effective political expression in our country.
