When used in the science of ecological biology, the term niche is used to define an organism’s role in an ecosystem. It Includes the environment that a given organism lives in, the organism’s “job” in that environment, what the organism eats, how it interacts with (biotic) living elements as well as non-living (abiotic) environment.
