A flood caused by heavy or excessive rainfall in a short period of time is known as flash flood. It is usually characterized by raging torrents after heavy rains that rip through river beds, urban streets, or mountain canyons sweeping everything before them.
Flooding occurs in areas where the ground is unable to absorb all of the water, according to forecasters, who explained that flash flooding can also be caused by mudslides or breaks in dams or levees. Urban areas are particularly vulnerable to flash flooding because they have a lot of paved surfaces.
