What is the reason for Champaran Satyagraha?

The reason why the Champaran Satyagraha was undertaken was because the tenant farmers of the district were exploited inhumanely by the British colonialists. Champaran in modern-day Bihar was the hub of indigo production and the British were only too happy to exploit the regions peasants to meet their commercial demands

The Champaran Satyagraha is considered to be a vital event in the history of India’s freedom struggle.
