CMV Full Form

What is the full form of CMV?

The full form of CMV is the Cytomegalovirus. It is a common virus that is normally harmless, but it infects people of different ages. Quite frequently, before birth, it is transferred to infants. When it enters the body, it stays in an individual’s body for the whole of the life in a dormant condition. There are no symptoms of most CMV affected individuals. It can be identified by blood tests. CMV has double-stranded DNA and is a member of the Herpesviridae family.

It typically spreads via direct contact with a CMV-infected human. It can be transmitted by the infected individual by body fluids such as urine, saliva, semen, hair and so on. Thus, prevent utensils, glass, or other items that an infected person uses. For CMV infection, a healthy and stable person with strong immunity really doesn’t need medical care. Individuals who have poor immunity may typically require medical attention for infection with CMV.
