Drawing Made Easy – How to Draw a Lotus Flower for Kids?

Drawing a lotus flower is easy compared to any other drawing activities on the topics like humans, jungle, rivers, parks etc. Kids can easily and quickly learn how to draw wonderful images of lotus flowers by following the step-by-step instructions mentioned below.

Step 1: Take white paper, pencil, eraser, marker, and colour supplies.

Step 2: Sketch the outline of the flower with a pencil. Start by drawing the bud of the lotus flower. Draw a figure almost similar to a water droplet in the centre of the paper.

Step 3: Use the same water droplet figure to form the petals of the lotus flower. To the right of the bud, draw a slanted water drop figure. Make the petal slightly pointed at the top. Arrange it in such a way that it appears almost like a newly detached petal from the bud.

Step 4: Repeat the same process on the left side of the bud.

Step 5: After completing two petals, start drawing the third one on the right of the first petal (step 3). Make slight changes in the size of the petals to bring a more real-like appearance to the flower.

Step 6: Repeat drawing petals on the left side too.

Step 7: After completing the petals, start sketching the leaves of the lotus flower. Use the same shape as that of the petals to draw the leaves too. Make sure that the size of the leaves is a little smaller than the petals. To form the shape of the leaves, invert the bud shape drawn in step 2.

Step 8: Add two more leaves to the right and left of the leaf drawn in step 7.

Step 9: After completing the bud, petals, and leaves, draw a stem to the flower. Draw a stem from the bottom of the leaves.

Step 10: If interested in drawing, kids can apply drawing techniques to make them appear more realistic.

Step 12: Use an eraser and remove the unwanted scribbling errors from the drawing.

Step 13: After clearing the mistakes, use a black marker and sketch the outline of the lotus flower.

Step 14: Complete the exercise by filling the image with the most appropriate colours. Use a light pink colour for buds and petals, light green or leaves, and dark green for the stem of the lotus flower.
