Barium Chloride Formula, which is also known as Barium dichloride formula is given in this article. This soluble salt of barium which arises from the direct reaction of chlorine and barium. The chemical or molecular formula for Barium Chloride is BaCl2.

It is a white coloured solid and has no odour. It is hygroscopic and is soluble in water. It crystallizes in two polymorphs (forms) viz cubic fluorite (CaF2) structure and orthorhombic cotunnite (PbCl2) structure.

It is widely used in laboratories, industries, to test sulfate ion, to purify brine solution, in the manufacturing of pigments and other barium salts. It is inexpensive but toxic and yields a yellow-green colour flame.
