Circulatory system refers to the heart and a network of blood vessels that move blood, nutrients and oxygen throughout the body

The circulatory system consists of the heart, capillaries, arteries and veins. While arteries carry blood away from the heart, the veins (in most cases) carry blood back to the heart. The capillaries facilitate the exchange of oxygen and nutrients to the cells. The circulatory system helps tissues get sufficient oxygen, and nutrients and helps in removing metabolic waste products as well.

The circulatory system in human beings consists of several different circulatory circuits. These are the pulmonary circuit, the systemic circuit and the coronary circuit. The pulmonary circuit circulates the blood between the heart and the lungs. The systemic circuit is responsible for circulating blood between the heart and the body. Ultimately, the coronary circuit controls the flow of blood from the heart to the heart itself.
