IGKO Class 2 Syllabus

The Science Olympiad Foundation (SOF) hosts the IGKO (International General Knowledge Olympiad). The IGKO Olympiad is open to students in grades 1 to 10. Its goal is to engage students’ interest in current events while broadening their knowledge. For students competing in the IGKO Olympiad, reading the IGKO Olympiad Syllabus is necessary.

Even though the IGKO test is mainly intended to assess students’ general awareness, there will be few current event questions. The IGKO Olympiad program will include basic topics in Geography, History, Science, and Mathematics. General Awareness, Current Affairs, Life Skills, and the Achievers Section are the four primary sections of the IGKO Syllabus Class 2. Students in classes 1 to 4 and grades 5 to 10 have different IGKO Syllabuses for each section.

Class 1 to 10 IGKO Syllabus

The IGKO Syllabus is divided into four sections for each Class from first to tenth.

1st section General Awareness Topics based on important events around the world
2nd section Current Affairs Contains questions from recent events
3rd section Life Skills Topics based on abilities for managing and living a better quality of life
4th section Achievers Section Contains questions related to higher-order thinking skills

SOF IGKO Class 2 Syllabus

The IGKO Syllabus for Class 2 is listed below.

General Awareness Plants and Animals, Me and My Surroundings, India and the World, Language and Literature, Science and Technology, Sports, Earth, and Its Environment, Maths Fun.

The Marking Scheme of IGKO Class 2

Class 1 to 4 has a different marking scheme from Classes 5 to 10. The marking structure of IGKO Class 2 is tabulated below.

What can students do to prepare for the Olympiad exams?

The majority of Olympiad exams follow the same curriculum as school exams. No additional reference books are required for the preparation of these tests. All that is required from students is that they understand all the basics and principles.

How many levels are there in the Olympiad examination?

The Olympiad test is divided into two levels. The level 1 exam is an example of an objective test. A separate test paper is given to each class. There are 35 multiple-choice questions worth 40 points for classes I to IV, and for classes V to XII, there are 50 multiple-choice questions worth 60 points. The questions must be answered within an hour.
