IGKO Class 3 Syllabus

The IGKO (International General Knowledge Olympiad) is hosted by the Science Olympiad Foundation (SOF). Students in grades 1–10 are eligible to compete in the IGKO Olympiad. Its purpose is to ignite students’ interest in current events while broadening their perspectives. The IGKO Olympiad Syllabus is mandatory reading for students participating in the IGKO Olympiad.

General knowledge covers a broad range of topics and provides a comprehensive understanding of the subject. IGKO Syllabus Class 3 covers various topics, including General Awareness, Current Affairs, Life Skills, and Achievers Section. For each section, students in classes 1 to 4 and grades 5 to 10 have separate IGKO Syllabuses.

Class 1 to 10 IGKO Syllabus

The IGKO Syllabus is divided into four sections for each class, from first to tenth.

1st section General Awareness Topics based on important events around the world
2nd section Current Affairs Contains questions from recent events
3rd section Life Skills Topics based on abilities for managing and living a better quality of life
4th section Achievers Section Contains questions related to higher-order thinking skills

SOF IGKO Class 3 Syllabus

The IGKO Class 3 Syllabus is listed below.

General Awareness Plants and Animals, Me and My Surroundings, Science and Technology, India and the World, Sports, Language and Literature, Maths fun, Transport and Communication, Earth and its environment.
Life Skills Moral values, Leadership, Communication, Time Management, and Environmental Sensitivity.
Current Affairs Research & Development, News, Updates on new happenings from around the world.
Achievers Section Higher-order thinking questions from the syllabus are given above.

The Marking Scheme of IGKO Class 3

Class 1 to 4 has a different marking scheme from Classes 5 to 10. The marking structure of IGKO Class 3 is tabulated below.

No. There is no need to buy any additional books to prepare for the IGKO. Students should thoroughly read and comprehend each concept in their NCERT subject-wise books. Rather than memorising, students should focus on mastering the fundamentals so that they may attempt any question in the exam.

When will the Olympiad results be announced?

The Olympiad results are announced within 8 weeks of the examination. The results are sent to the respective schools.
