All numbers which can be divided by 2 are multiples of 2. We can also define a multiple as a number, we get, when 2 is multiplied by any natural number. For example, 2 multiplied by 9 is 18, hence 18 is multiple of 2. Some more multiples are given below:
2 | 44 | 20 | 60 | 120 |
What are Multiples of 2?
Any number that can be denoted in the form 2n where n is a natural number is a multiple of 2. So if two values p and q are there, we say that q is a multiple of p if ‘q = np’ for some natural number n.
For example, 80, 60, 20 and 16 are all multiples of 2 for the following reasons:
80 | = | 2 | x | 40 |
60 | = | 2 | x | 30 |
20 | = | 2 | x | 10 |
16 | = | 2 | x | 8 |
These values are called as multiples as these values are obtained by adding or subtracting original value many times.
