The Common Law Admission Test (CLAT) 2025 will be held in December 2024.

The Common Law Admission Test (CLAT) 2022 was held on May 8, 2022 and the CLAT 2023 exam was held on December 18, 2022. CLAT 2024 was held on December 3, 2023.

The CLAT eligibility criteria for various categories is given below.

The CLAT eligibility is measured mainly on three major factors as mentioned below:

  • Educational Qualification

CLAT Eligibility Criteria for 2025 Exam

Eligibility criteria for the CLAT 2025 examination for undergraduate (UG) and postgraduate (PG) law programmes are given below. There is no upper age limit for candidates who want to appear for the CLAT 2025 examination for both the UG and PG law programmes. Candidates should go through the eligibility criteria carefully and then apply for the courses.

Eligibility Criteria for CLAT 2025 Undergraduate Law Programme

Age Limit

There is no upper age limit for candidates applying for the UG-CLAT 2025 examination.

Minimum percentage of marks in the qualifying examination (10+2 or its equivalent)

Applicants should have secured a minimum percentage of marks given below in 10+2 or its equivalent examination. Category-wise minimum percentage of marks required to apply for the exam is given in the table below.

Candidates who are going to appear in the qualifying exam (10+2 or its equivalent) in March/April, 2025 can apply for CLAT 2025 exam. However, they should produce evidence of their passing the qualifying examination at the time of admission.

Candidates should submit their results (i.e., 10+2 or its equivalent) at the time of admission. If candidates do not submit their results when required, they will become ineligible for admission.

Note:

If candidates score equal marks in the CLAT examination, then to break the tie, the procedure and order given below will be followed.

i. Higher marks scored in the section on Legal Aptitude in the CLAT 2025 exam

ii. Higher age

iii. Computerised draw of lots

CLAT Eligibility Criteria for the 2025 Postgraduate Law Programme

    1. Candidates who plan to appear in the qualifying examination (LLB degree or its equivalent exam) in April/May 2025 are eligible to apply for CLAT 2025 examination.
    2. Age Limit:

The Consortium has not prescribed any upper age limit to appear in the CLAT 2025 exam.

    1. Tie Breaker Rule:

If candidates score equal marks in CLAT 2025, the break of tie will take place by following the procedure and order mentioned below:

i. Higher age

ii. Computerised draw of lots

CLAT Eligibility for Foreign Nationals

  • Indian Nationals/NRIs/PIO/OCI seeking admission in either of the UG programmes can appear in CLAT 2025.
  • Foreign Nationals need not appear for the test.
  • For NRI/NRI Sponsored/Foreign National seats, applicants can consult the e-brochures and websites of the different NLUs. All NRI Category applicants must take the CLAT 2025 test for those NLUs where such students are accepted through the CLAT 2025 rankings rather than directly by the respective universities.

The candidates must ensure that they fulfill CLAT Exam Eligibility criteria. Post that they can proceed further with the CLAT application form. Even if aspirants fill out the application form, they might be denied admission during the counselling process, where strict verification takes place.

The exam authority ensures a strict check related to CLAT exam Eligibility Criteria and prioritises this as an important condition for the exam application. The respective University reserves the right to cancel the admission of any candidate in accordance with the rules.
