FSSAI Syllabus 2022

FSSAI is also known as the Food Safety and Standards Authority Of India. It is a statutory body that has been established under the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Government Of India. Its main responsibilities are to create science-based standards for food articles, regulate their manufacture, storage, distribution, sale, and import them to ensure the availability of safe and wholesome food for human consumption.

There are numerous posts and vacancies which come under FSSAI like Assistant Director, Assistant Director (Technical), Technical Officer, Administrative Officer, Assistant, Junior Assistant Grade-I, Assistant Manager (IT), Deputy Manager, etc.

Syllabus for FSSAI Exam 2022

FSSAI has postponed the FSSAI 2022 exam dates for all the posts. Aspirants who have applied for the post of Technical Officer, Central Food Safety Officer (CFO), Assistant Manager, and other posts will soon be intimated about the new exam dates.

The FSSAI CBT exam date, too, has been postponed, after the recent spike in COVID 19 cases. As per the earlier update, the FSSAI exam was supposed to be held from 17th January to 20th January 2022 for a total of 233 vacancies; the exam date now stands postponed.

The syllabus broadly consists of two parts:

1. General Aptitude and Computer Literacy: General Intelligence, General Awareness, English Language.

2. Functional Knowledge Test

Syllabus for FSSAI Exam in Detail

The FSSAI Syllabus 2021 comprised of the following parts and subparts:

Part A:

Computer Literacy: Knowledge of MS Office (word, excel, PowerPoint), basic commands, emails, Google Docs, commonly used social media handles (Whatsapp, FB, Twitter, etc.).

General Intelligence: Analogies, Problem-solving, Judgment, Decision making, Arithmetical reasoning, Visual memory, Relationship concepts, Arithmetical number series, etc., are the subjects covered under this part. This is one of the most important portions of the FSSAI Exam Syllabus.

A candidate’s problem-solving skills are assessed in this section.

General Awareness: To score high in this section, you must keep yourself updated on the latest news and events, and observe day-to-day happenings very closely.The various aspects of History, Geography, Culture, Economic Scene, Scientific Research, etc., are also covered in the segment.

English language Comprehension: Word substitution, synonyms and antonyms, grammar – nouns, pronouns, adjectives, etc., constitute this section.

Part B:

Functional Knowledge Test Syllabus:

Indian and International Food Laws: An Overview

Food Safety and Standards Act of India, 2006: Provision, definitions, and different sections of the Act and implementation, FSS Rules and Regulations, International Food Control Systems/Laws, Regulations and Standards/Guidelines about Food Safety- Overview of CODEX Alimentarius Commission (History, Members, Standard setting and Advisory mechanisms: JECFA, JEMRA JMPR): WTO agreements (SPS/TBT) and Important national and international accreditation bodies.

FSSAI- Role, Functions, Initiatives: This section includes information on the genesis and evolution of FSSAI, structure and functions of food authority, overview of systems and processes in standards, enforcement, laboratory ecosystem, imports, third-party audit, promoting safe and wholesome food (eat right india, food fortification, SNF, clean street food hub, RUCO, training and capacity building, and the role of state food authorities, etc.

Selection Process at a Glance:

The selection process of the candidates for FSSAI recruitment takes place through a computer-based test (CBT). The CBT pattern may vary as per the post for which you have applied. There are 2 CBTs for some posts and skill tests as per the requirement. For some posts, there is a written test, plus an interview.
