Place Value and Face Value In a number, place value of a digit is the value of the position of that digit within the given number. For example, the place value of the digit 5 in 19530 is 500. The face value of any digit in the number is the value of the digit itself. For example, the face value of 5 in 19530 is 5. |
Question 6: Find the sum and product of the place value and face value of 6 in the number 86245.
Solution:
Place value of 6 = 6000
Face value of 6 = 6
Then,
6000 + 6 = 6006
6000 × 6 = 36000
Question 7: State ‘true’ or ‘false’ for the following statements:
(i) The place value and face value of any digit in ones place are the same.
