Reproductive health is the state of physical, mental and social well-being, and not just the absence of disease or weakness in all matters relating to the reproductive system. Reproductive health includes sexual health, the purpose of which is the enhancement of life and personal relations. And not merely counseling and care related to reproduction and sexually transmitted diseases.

Components of Reproductive Health

There are three essential components of sexual and reproductive health care like-

  1. Family planning –  As per the words of Reproline “Family planning benefits the health and well-being of women and families throughout the world. 2. Sexual health – A positive and respectful approach to sexuality and sexual relationships is a must to have a good sexual health. Having safe and pleasurable sexual experiences which are free of coercion, discrimination or violence is referred to this statement.
  3. Maternal health – The health of women during pregnancy, childbirth, and the postpartum period is called Maternal health.

Importance of Reproductive Health

All should be well aware of accurate information about sexual life, reproduction, contraception methods. This helps to maintain a safe sexual and reproductive health. People could only protect themselves from sexually transmitted infections and diseases if they are well informed and well empowered about the same.
