CTET Exam Eligibility Criteria 2023-2024

CTET 2023 exam is yet to be conducted. Candidates can refer to the previous year CTET exam eligibility criteria to get an idea about the requirements.

The 15th edition of the Central Teacher Eligibility Test (CTET) was conducted from December 16, 2021 to January 21, 2022 at various exam centres in India. The notification related to the declaration of CTET results was released on March 9, 2022. Recent update related to the next cycle of the CTET exam will be made available here as and when it is available on the official website of CTET.

Eligibility Criteria for CTET 2023-2024

CTET is a qualifying exam conducted by the CBSE twice a year. Before applying for the exam, candidates should go through the eligibility criteria given in the official notification. As per the ‘Information Bulletin’ published on the official website of CTET, candidates possessing minimum qualifications as per the following are eligible for appearing in the CTET:

  1. National Council for Teacher Education (Determination of Minimum Qualifications for Persons to be recruited as Education Teachers and Physical Education Teachers in Pre-Primary, Primary, Upper Primary, Secondary, Senior Secondary or Intermediate Schools or Colleges) Regulations as amended and notified from time to time.
  2. Minimum qualifications as given in the Recruitment Rules for the teachers by the appropriate Government where the school is situated or the Recruitment Rules for the teachers of Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan or Navodaya Vidyalaya Samiti.

The details of the minimum qualifications required to apply for CTET as per the NCTE notification are given below:

Minimum Educational Qualifications to be eligible for CTET are:

I. CTET Eligibility Criteria: I-V

Senior Secondary (or its equivalent) with at least 50% marks and passed or appearing in the final year of 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education (by whatever name known).

OR

Senior Secondary (or its equivalent) with at least 45% marks and passed or appearing in the final year of 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education (by whatever name known), by the NCTE (Recognition Norms and Procedure), Regulations, 2002.

OR

Senior Secondary (or its equivalent) with at least 50% marks and passing or appearing in the final year of 4- year Bachelor of Elementary Education (B.El.Ed).

OR

Senior Secondary (or its equivalent) with at least 50% marks and passed or appearing in the final year of 2- year Diploma in Education (Special Education).

OR

Graduation with at least 50% marks and Bachelor of Education (B.Ed).

OR

Post-Graduation with a minimum 55% marks or equivalent grade and three-year integrated B.Ed.-M.Ed

II. CTET Eligibility Criteria: VI-VIII

Graduation, and passed or appearing in the final year of a 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education (by whatever name known).

OR

Graduation with at least 50% marks and passed or appearing in 1-year Bachelor in Education (B.Ed)

OR

Graduation with at least 45% marks and passed or appearing in 1-year Bachelor in Education (B.Ed), by the NCTE (Recognition Norms and Procedure) Regulations issued from time to time in this regard.

OR

Senior Secondary (or its equivalent) with at least 50% marks and passed or appearing in the final year of 4-year Bachelor in Elementary Education (B.El.Ed).

OR

Senior Secondary (or its equivalent) with at least 50% marks and passed or appearing in the final year of 4-year B.A/B. Sc. Ed or B.A.Ed/ B. Sc. Ed.

OR

Graduation with at least 50% marks and passed or appearing in 1-year B.Ed. (Special Education)

OR

Post-Graduation with a minimum 55% marks or equivalent grade and three-year integrated B.Ed.-M.Ed.

III. Age Limit:

There is no upper age limit for candidates who want to apply for CTET examination.

IV. Reservation Policy

Candidates who belong to reserved categories like the SC/ST/OBC/PB will be given a relaxation of upto 5% in the qualifying marks.
