The West Bengal Public Service Commission (WBPSC) sets the exam pattern for its recruitment in its public service commission.

WBPSC Exam Pattern for 2023

The WBPSC Exam is conducted in three stages:

  • Preliminary Stage
  • Mains Stage
  • Interview round

WBPSC Prelims Exam Pattern

Unlike other PSC exams, the West Bengal Public Service Commission only has one paper for the prelims. There is no aptitude test for WBPSC Exam.

The Prelims is only a screening test, and its total marks (200) are not considered for final selection.

WBPSC Mains Exam Pattern

The WBPSC Mains Exam comprises six compulsory papers and one optional subject that consists of two papers. It should be noted that only candidates who appear for the Group A and Group B exam have to appear for the optional papers while Groups C and D need to only attempt the 6 compulsory papers. WBPSC Personality Test

Candidates who have passed the mains stage will qualify for the personality test (interview round)

As per the latest notifications from WBPSC, the breakdown of marks allotted to different categories are as follows:

  1. Group ‘A’ and ‘B’ – 200
  2. Group ‘C’ – 150
  3. Group ‘D’ – 100

The candidate will be interviewed by a board who will have a record of the candidate’s career and interests filled by the candidate in the Application Form. The aim of the interview the personality of the candidate and whether their personality is a right fit for the job
