DSSSB Eligibility Criteria

The Delhi Subordinate Services Selection Board (DSSSB) has released the exam notifications for the various posts in the Delhi State Administration.

Delhi Subordinate Service Selection Board (DSSSB) is an exam conducting body under the departments of the Government of the National Capital Territory of Delhi (GNCT of Delhi). Its objective is to recruit suitable candidates for the Group “B” and Group “C” categories of posts, both Teaching and Non-teaching.

The eligibility criteria is based on three factors:

  • Age Limit
  • Educational Qualifications

The Nationality Criteria is the same: Every candidate must be an Indian citizen.

However the rest of the criteria varies from post to post in the DSSSB. This article will give details about the eligibility criteria for each post under the DSSSB Recruitment Exam. Do note that the details of the eligibility criteria are as per the DSSSB Notification released in 2021.

The 2022 notification for the DSSSB combined exams is yet to be released. In case of any changes, this article will be  updated accordingly.

Age Limit Criteria for DSSSB Posts

The Age Limit Criteria of each post under the DSSSB Combined Exam is given as follows:

The quantum of age relaxation will be subject to the number of years spent in the department on contract basis provided, they have worked for at least 120 days

in a particular academic year.

Trained Graduate Teacher (Hindi) (Male) Below 32 years. The contractual employees working against teaching posts will be eligible for one time relaxation in upper age limit up to maximum period of 5 years.

department on contract basis provided, they have worked for at least 120 days

Trained Graduate Teacher (Bengali) (Male) Below 32 years. The contractual employees working against teaching posts will be eligible for one time relaxation in upper age limit up to maximum period of 5 years.

The Quantum of age relaxation will be subject to the number of years spent in the

department on contract basis provided, they have worked for at least 120 days

in a particular academic year.

Assistant Teacher (Primary) Not exceeding 30 years. The contractual employees working against teaching posts will be eligible for one time relaxation in upper age limit up to maximum period of 5 years.

The quantum of age relaxation will be subject to the number of years spent in the

department on contract basis provided, they have worked for at least 120 days

in a particular academic year.

Assistant Teacher (Nursery) Not exceeding 30 years. The contractual employees working against teaching posts will be eligible for one time relaxation in upper age limit up to maximum period of 5 years.

The quantum of age relaxation will be subject to the number of years spent in the

department on contract basis provided, they have worked for at least 120 days

in a particular academic year.

Junior Secretariat Assistant (LDC) 18-27 years,
Counselor Not exceeding 30 Years.
Head Clerk Not exceeding 30 Years.
Assistant Teacher (Primary) Not exceeding 30 Years,
Patwari 21-27 years. Relaxation in upper age as a one time measure up to the actual time spent as contractual employee of the same department, subject to a maximum of 5 years provided they have worked for at least 180 working days in that particular year

*Salient Points to be Noted about DSSSB Age Relaxation Criteria:

Any specific age relaxation provided in the Recruitment Rules of the posts of MCDs, NDMC and

  • Autonomous Bodies of the Government of NCT of Delhi shall be applicable in respect of those particular posts.
  • Recruitment Rules of the posts of MCDs, NDMC and Autonomous bodies of Government of NCT of Delhi; wherever it is mentioned that age relaxation shall be given as per Government of India instructions, the age relaxation given here-in-above shall be applicable.
  • An Ex-serviceman who has already secured employment under the Central Government/ Govt. of NCT of Delhi or its autonomous/local bodies in Group C post will be permitted the benefit of age relaxation as prescribed for ex-servicemen for securing another employment in higher grade or cadre in Group C Post.
  • However, such candidates will not be eligible for the benefit of reservation.
  • In case of a physically handicapped/Person with Disability, relaxation in age-limit shall be applicable irrespective of the fact whether the post is reserved or not, provided the post is identified as suitable for persons with disabilities.
  • If a person with disability is entitled to age concession by virtue of being a Departmental employee, concession to him/her will be admissible either as a ‘person with disability’ or as a ‘Departmental employee’ whichever may be more beneficial to him/her

Senior Secondary (or its equivalent) with at least 50% marks and 4-years Bachelor of elementary education (B.El.Ed).

Senior Secondary (or its equivalent) with at least 50% marks and 2-years Diploma in Education (special education) from a

recognized Board.

  • Graduation and 2-years Diploma in elementary education (by whatever name known) from a recognized Board.
  • Pass in the Central Teacher Eligibility Test (CTET) conducted by the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE).

  • Diploma/Certificate in Nursery Teacher Education programme of a duration of not less than two years or B.Ed. (Nursery) from a recognized institute.
  • Must have passed Hindi at Secondary Level.
Junior Secretariat Assistant (LDC) Matriculation /Secondary School Exam from a recognized University / Board or equivalent; and Ability to type at a speed of not less than 35 words per minute in English or 30 Words per minute in Hindi on Computer.
Counselor
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology / Applied Psychology.
  • (Post Graduate Diploma in Counseling Psychology, and
  • One year experience of working with clinical psychologist / organization working in the field of Mental Health / Drug De-addiction Centre / Psychiatric ward in any Hospital / Clinic’

OR

  • B. Master’s Degree in Psychology / Counseling Psychology / Clinical Psychology / Applied Psychology from a recognized University / Institute.
  • Studied Hindi as a Subject at any level from Secondary onward.
Head Clerk
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent from any recognized university

Frequently Asked Question about DSSSB Exam Eligibility

Is B Ed compulsory for DSSSB?

Eligibility Criteria Required to apply for the post of PGT in DSSSB: There is a certain educational qualification required to be eligible for the post of PGT in DSSSB recruitment. So, B. Ed course is mandatory in order to be eligible for PGT post in DSSSB recruitment

Is B Ed eligible for DSSSB PRT?

Candidates must also be pursuing a diploma or degree courses like diplomas in elementary education/B. El. Ed/diploma in education/special education with at least 50% aggregate marks from a recognized university.

Can final year students apply for DSSSB?

Yes, at first one has to read all the DSSSB TGT Computer Science syllabus. Because the syllabus plays an important role in any exam. So, ignoring the syllabus is not a good thing. Candidates should note down the syllabus and its important topics in the notebook.
