NRA CET Qualification

The Common Eligibility Test or CET is a national-level competitive examination conducted by the NRA (National Recruitment Agency) across the country. The examination was recently approved for conduction by the central government of India in 2020, and it aims to replace all preliminary examinations held for the recruitment of Grade 2 and 3 employees in government offices. The examination is very similar to the preliminary examinations held by the RRB, local banks, and the SSC. So, for a candidate to apply, there are various NRA CET qualification criteria that they need to fulfil. Candidates need to have a clear idea about those qualification details pertaining to age, education, nationality, and other such factors.

NRA CET Age Qualification

The age of an applicant is of major concern for most competitive examinations, alongside their educational background. The NRA CET has an age limit criteria that qualifies candidates for application. The criteria include:

  1. The lower age limit for the examination is non-described since the scope of eligibility is divided into three separate groups – 10th grade qualified, 12th grade qualified, and eligibility.
  2. However, the upper age limit will be applicable for different divisions of the examination. The post applied for is also a major deciding factor of the upper age limit.
  3. Age relaxation is possible for candidates that belong to SC/ ST/ OBC/ PwD categories.
Category Upper Age relaxation
SC 5 years
ST 5 years
OBC 3 years
PwD 3 years

The NRA itself has not notified these upper relaxations; however, these are the standard age relaxation criteria for employment under the central government of India, the superior body approving the CET.

NRA CET Education Qualification

The educational qualification for the NRA CET examination is a lot broader in terms of scope and eligibility. The CET is not exclusive to any one educational background but instead encompasses three different stages:

  • Matriculate Qualification
  • Higher Secondary Qualification, and
  • Graduate Qualification

The matriculate qualification is the criteria for candidates that have cleared their 10th class examination, while the Higher Secondary qualification is for candidates that have cleared their class 12 examination. Meanwhile, in the third division, the Graduate qualification pertains to graduated candidates.

The details for this NRA CET education qualification have not been released yet. Still, the NRA has confirmed these three divisions of candidates based on educational qualifications.
