Q1. What do you know about the sacrifice of Kali Bai?
Answer: Kalibai was one of the inhabitants of Rastapal in the district Dungarpur.
She was a Bheel girl and was 13 years old. She studied at a school in Rastapal. This school was run by Durgapur Sewak Sangh. The emperor of Dungarpur wanted to shut this school because of the presence of the British. Police were sent to this school but Nanabhai Khant, a teacher at this school, refused to let the school close. He had to face the cruelty of the police and he died.
Another teacher of the school, Sainghbhai Bheel, didn’t stop teaching. He was dragged and tied to a truck by the police. Kali bai could not let this happen. So, she went and cut the rope of the truck. She freed her teacher. As a result, the police got agitated. When Kali Bai bowed down to help her teacher get up, she was shot by the police. She died on the spot.

Answer: Dev Narayanji’s Phad is a cloth story. There are 335 songs in this story, written in 1200 pages. This sums up to approximately 15,000 lines. The Phad composed by Dev Narayanji is the most famous and biggest Phad in the state.

Answer: Meera Bai took birth in a village called Kudki in the year 1498 AD. She was an ardent devotee of Shri Krishna since her childhood. She was married to Bhojraj of Mewar in 1519. Bhojraj was the son of Maharana Sanga. Bhojraj died post seven years of marriage. After the demise of her husband and her father, Meera gave up on the material world. She devoted herself entirely to Shri Krishna Bhakti.
Mewar’s then ruler, Vikaramadiyta, was very cruel and torturous towards Meera Bai. She still kept her faith in Krishna. She spent her final days in Dwarka.
