Agnipath Scheme: Detailed Salary, Allowances & Job Profile

A government programme called Agnipath Defence Policy Reform was launched to recruit young men and women in the Indian Armed Forces on June 14, 2022. The recruitment is open to applicants between the ages of 17 and 23, and those chosen will be known as Agniveers. Agniveers would be paid a handsome salary under this scheme. Agnipath Scheme: Overview

Young people who are “patriotic and driven” will be able to join the armed forces for a four-year period of time under the new defence recruitment scheme known as Agnipath. It will make it possible for young Indians who wish to join the armed services, whether it be the Indian Air Force, Indian Navy or Indian Army, to do so through this new entry opportunity. Every year, 45,000 to 50,000 soldiers will be recruited for a four-year commitment as Agniveers. Currently, a soldier serves for nearly 17-20 years.

Beginning at Rs. 30,000, the salary will increase to Rs. 40,000 by the conclusion of the fourth year. On completion of their service, they will get between 11 and 12 lakh rupees under the “Seva Nidhi” package (which is exempted from income tax).

Agnipath Scheme: Salary Structure

  • The Agniveer Package, which consists of a monthly salary package, and the Seva Nidhi Package make up the Agniveers’ entire service remuneration.
  • A section of the Agniveer Salary will be put toward a corpus fund as part of the Seva Nidhi Package, with equal financial contributions provided by the Government of India.
  • The monthly salary for an Agniveer is set at Rs 30,000, with some deductions and increments throughout the years. 
  • The first year’s in-hand salary would be Rs 21,000, or 70% of the individually designed monthly package. 
  • The Corpus Fund, which will be released after 4 years of service, will receive an additional 30% of the Agniveer’s monthly income. 
  • The Agniveers’ monthly payments would increase to Rs 40,000 in the fourth year, with Rs 28,000 of that amount being their in-hand salary.

Agnipath Scheme: Seva Nidhi Package

Agniveers will receive an attractive bonus in the form of the Seva Nidhi Package when they are released from their duties after four years. The cumulative corpus money would be 10.04 lakhs after four years of service. This sum will accumulated, following an equal contribution of 5.02 lakhs from the government and the employee. The total amount to be transferred will also include any interest that has accumulated on the corpus fund.

  • Each Agniveer Army Candidate will be offered two alternatives for receiving their Seva Nidhi Package at the end of their tenure. They will be required to choose any of the following options:
    • The corpus amount can be paid to them to cover immediate or unexpected expenses.
    • The candidates have the option of using a bank guarantee to get loans for self-employment or entrepreneurship.
  • The amount received as “Seva Nidhi” will be exempted from Income Tax.
  • The accumulated corpus amount will be properly reimbursed with interest if the Agniveers leave the service before their four-year duration. In this instance, the government’s contribution to the package won’t be taken into account.
  • Agniveers who are subsequently chosen and enrolled in the regular cadre will only receive their contribution (5.02 lakhs) plus accumulated interest. The Indian government won’t be making any contributions in this case as well.

Agnipath Scheme: Post Retirement Benefits

After retiring from their four-year service, Agniveers will be entitled to a number of benefits. The following list of benefits is provided as part of the Agneepath remuneration package.

  • Class 12 Certificate: A certificate for Class 12 or the equivalent, based on the candidate’s skills, will be provided at the conclusion of the engagement time for applicants enrolling after Class 10.
  • “Agniveer” Skill Certificate: At the conclusion of their employment, Agniveers will receive a comprehensive skill set certificate outlining their skills and degree of expertise.
  • Seva Nidhi Package: Upon completing their service, the candidates will get a corpus payment of Rs 10.04 lakhs plus interest that has accrued.
  • Agniveers will be given preference while recruiting in the State Police.
  • Agniveers will be given a 10% reservation in the Indian Coast Guard and Ministry of Defence.
  • A three-year technical programme for Agniveers will be introduced by the Union Ministry of Education.

Agnipath Scheme: Allowances And Benefits

The Agniveers will only receive a small number of provisions in the Agneepath Scheme 2022 in the form of additional allowances. However, in addition to their monthly Agneepath pay, individuals will also be eligible for a variety of other advantages and bonuses once they join the service. Below are some details about the same:

  • According to the Indian Army’s regulating standards, they will be eligible for honours and awards.
  • Agniveers will not be required to contribute to the Armed Forces Personnel Provident Fund or any other Provident Fund in any amount.
  • Agniveers will receive the necessary Risk and Hardship, Ration, Dress and Travel Allowances in accordance with the guidelines established by the Government of India.
  • The Agniveer will receives up to 30 days of yearly leave and additional sick days based on medical advice while they are in the service.
  • Agniveer will be eligible for CSD benefits as well as medical care at military hospitals during their tenure.
  • During their tenure, they will receive a non-contributory life insurance policy of Rs 48 lakhs, however they will not be qualified for AGIF schemes or benefits.
