Difference Between CNG and LPG

The major differences between CNG and LPG are easy to understand and figure out. One has to understand the components of CNG and LPG are what set it apart from one another. CNG which stands for compressed natural gas is mainly composed of Methane, while LPG which stands for Liquified petroleum gas consists of Propane, Butane and other gases as well. Sometimes a few different variants of LPG are propane and so they are just called propane instead of LPG. One of the major differences between the two is that CNG is far cheaper and compared to LPG. However, LPG has a much greater calorific value when compared to CNG, that means that LPG burns at a much higher rate when compared to CNG.

It is very safe as it disperses rapidly into the air.

It is highly flammable as it is much heavier than air.

The primary source of obtaining CNG is from oil wells, bed methane wells, coal wells and even natural gas wells.

The main source of obtaining LPG is from the process of extracting natural gas from the reservoir.
