Indicator Questions

Indicators are substances with varying colours in various media (acidic and basic media). As a result, indicators can tell whether a solution is acidic or basic. Natural indicators and synthetic indicators are both types of indicators. Different indicators (acid-base, complexometric, potentiometric, and redox) are used for different reactions.

Definition: Any substance that indicates the presence or absence of a chemical species, such as an acid or an alkali, in a solution by changing colour is termed as an indicator.
