The SSC JE Exam consists of 2 papers. Paper-I is a computer based examination and Paper – II is a descriptive type paper. The Paper-I will consist of Objective Type, Multiple choice questions only. For each wrong answer in Paper-I, there will be a negative marking of 0.25 marks. The questions will be set both in English & Hindi.

SSC JE Exam Pattern : Paper – I
Students will have to answer a General Intelligence & Reasoning, and General Awareness Paper. Both these sections will have 50 questions for a maximum of 50 marks. The candidates will be required to attempt the General Engineering part on the basis of their educational qualification, in the online application form.
Candidates appearing for the post of Junior Engineer (Mechanical) are required to attempt Part-C (Mechanical) of Paper-I, candidates appearing for the post of Junior Engineer (Electrical) are required to attempt Part-B (Electrical) of Paper-I, the candidates appearing for the post of Junior Engineer (Civil), Junior Engineer (Quantity Surveying & Contracts) are required to attempt Part-A (Civil & Structural) of Paper-I.

SSC JE Exam Pattern : Paper – II
The candidates will be required to attempt the General Engineering part on the basis of their educational qualification, in the online application form. The mode of examination of SSC JE Exam Paper-I and Paper-II are different. The Paper-II will have to be written either in Hindi or in English.
