The Staff Selection Commission has released SSC CHSL 2023 Notification PDF for around 4500 vacancies along with the revised selection process and exam date. SSC CHSL Tier I was held from 9th March to 21st March 2023. SSC CHSL Tier 2 Exam 2023 will be held on 26th June 2023 for the candidates who qualify for SSC CHSL Tier 1 Exam.
The Staff Selection Commission conducts the SSC CHSL exam. This exam is conducted for candidates who have qualified for their higher secondary exams and are now eligible to take several roles within the Government. SSC CHSL stands for Staff Selection Commission Combined Higher Secondary Level Exam. The roles that can be taken up after securing qualifying SSC CHSL marks are:
- Lower Division Clerk
- Junior Secretariat Assistant
- Postal Assistant
- Sorting Assistant
- Data Entry Operator

The official notification for the exam in 2023 will be released on May 9, 2023. The exam is conducted once every year by the Staff Selection Commission. There are three rounds of SSC CHSL:
- Online or the CBT test
- The offline descriptive test
- Typing or skill test
You will only move forward to the offline test when you clear the SSC CHSL cut-off marks. The CBT and descriptive tests have 60 minutes, while the typing test is a 15 minutes skill test. The candidates can take up the exam in both English and Hindi. The SSC CHSL tier 2 exam is conducted at the beginning of the year, and the tier 1 exam is conducted in May.
SSC CHSL Exam Pattern
The tier 1 exam is an objective type paper with several multiple-choice questions. This exam is conducted online. The SSC CHSL full marks are 200, and new SSC CHSL cut-off marks are released based on the level of difficulty of the paper. The break-up of SSC CHSL tier 1 marks is given below:

Every question carries two marks, and there is a negative marking of 0.50 for every answer you mark wrongly. Once you clear the 1st round with SSC CHSL qualifying marks, you will move to the 2nd and 3rd tiers. The distribution of SSC CHSL total marks is done in the following manner:

The tier 2 exam is meant for the evaluation and the qualification of the candidates. However, the tier 3 test is just a qualifying round. Therefore, the cut-off marks out of the SSC CHSL maximum marks will be decided based on the performance of the candidates.

SSC CHSL Cut Off marks
The SSC CHSL passing marks will be decided based on the cut-off score released. It would be best to clear the sectional and overall cut-offs to clear the Tier 1 examination. Once you clear the cut-off, you will be moving on to the other two qualifying rounds. You will need to score a minimum of 33 percent marks in Tier 2 to appear for the skill test.
Once you qualify for the tier 3 exam, you will be called in for document verification. You will have to support your candidature with a certificate of matriculation and the higher secondary examination. You will also have to produce a caste certificate if you belong to any reserved castes.
