The selection procedure for the SBI clerk bank exam consists of three phases. The phase-I is a preliminary examination, this examination consists of the objective type questions and the phase-II is the Mains examination, this exam also consists of the objective type questions and the phase-III is the Interview.

The Prelims examination consist of 100 questions and the time duration for the exam is 1 hour. The questions in this examination are of three sections they are English Language, Numerical Ability, and the Reasoning Ability. In the same way, the Mains examination consists of the objective type questions but consist of 200 questions. The time given to complete and solve these questions is 2 hours 40 minutes. The syllabus content in the Mains examination is somewhat related to the Prelims exam. This section consists of four parts: General / Financial Awareness, General English, Quantitative Aptitude, Reasoning Ability and Computer Knowledge.

If the candidate qualifies the Prelims and the Mains, then the candidate is called for the Interview. The recruitment exams consist of negative marking as well which has a penalty of 0.25 marks for each wrong answer.  Hence one should keep in mind about this negative marking.
