Both of these are hardware devices that display graphics, images, and videos on their screens. Although their functionality is the same, their application is very varied. In this article, we will dig deeper into the difference between Monitor and Tv. Read ahead to know more.
What is a Monitor?
It is a type of computer hardware device that you can use with other computer devices (hardware) like a printer (for printing), keyboard (for typing), etc. In a similar way, the monitor acts as the PC gear for revealing graphics, illustrations, and videos that the PC video card creates. It is no less than the television.
The monitors available in the market earlier consisted of cathode ray tubes for rendering the video image. Here, the primary aim of building such monitors was to provide stability and accuracy to the displayed images and graphics. The monitors used today consist of LED backlighting and TFT-LCD (Thin Film Transistor LCD).
What is Television?
It is an electronic device using which you can view video content that the broadcasting signals transmit. A TV (television) receives these signals to change them into sound and pictures. Companies manufacture very large TVs these days- thus, their cost is also pretty high. The manufacturers combine the audio speaker and the radio frequency tuner to the monitor. The resulting appliance turns out to be a TV.
Here, the radiofrequency tuner basically receives TV signals through a variety of methods, like a satellite-dish system, broadcasting, cable TV, and more. A radio frequency contains both video and audio signals. It sends the video signals for displaying in the picture tube and the audio signals for sound to the speakers.
A typical television comes with a remote or a tuner for changing the available channels, adjusting the volume, brightness, and many more (according to the features of the TV). Earlier, huge televisions used to consist of cathode ray tubes. With the introduction of new LCD (Liquid Crystal Display) TVs, the cathode rays are no longer the norm. With an upgrade in technology, the new TVs manufactured are now LEDs.

Quality of Image | Since monitors have a higher resolution, the quality of images is very high-quality, accurate, and sharp. | Since televisions have a lower resolution, the image quality is much smoother and appealing to the viewers’ eyes. |
Input Lag | Monitors experience less input lag. | Televisions experience more input lag. |
Tuners | A monitor does not consist of a tuner. | Televisions come with a tuner or a remote. |
