About GATE Score Calculator

When it comes to determining the GATE score, it majorly depends on the sessions. For some papers, the GATE exam will be organized in various sessions. Therefore, for those papers, a normalization process is held to determine the GATE score. On the other hand, for some disciplines organized in a single session, only exact GATE marks will be granted to calculate the GATE Score.

For multiple session papers, 3 factors will be used to calculate the score:

  • Actual GATE Marks
  • Normalized GATE Marks
  • GATE Score

For single session papers, 2 factors will be used to calculate the score:

  • Actual GATE Marks
  • GATE Score

Actual GATE Marks

The actual scores are calculated by following the marking scheme and that is 1 and 2 marks.

For the multiple-choice question, 1 mark is granted for the right answer and 1/3 marks will be deducted for wrong answers. The same case goes with the question which includes 2 marks. So, 2 marks will be given for the correct answer and 2/3 marks will be deducted for wrong answers.

So, the candidate needs to understand that there is no negative marking in the case of Numerical Ability Questions.

Normalized GATE Marks

  • Normalized marks are the marks you scored after weighing the no. Of candidates who endeavored that exam in that slot, their score, level of exam in that particular slot, etc. Based on the above points, there is one formula for determining the normalized marks.
