Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) is a competitive exam conducted by the IISC and the 7 IITs. Qualifying in the GATE exams is mandatory to get admissions to the ME/M. Tech programmes for specific PSU jobs. GATE is also used for availing of financial assistance (such as scholarships). Now, the question that needs to be addressed here in this article is “How many times a GATE exam is conducted in a year.”

How Many Times In a Year the GATE Exam is conducted?

Will the GATE be conducted twice or more in a year? And the answer is no. So then, how many times is the GATE exam conducted in a year? GATE exams are usually conducted only once a year. These exams are generally conducted during the first or second week of February. Hence, the answer to the question is that this computer-based National exam is organised only once a year.

Meanwhile, the GATE scores are valid for three years, and there are no limitations to how many times a candidate can appear for the GATE exams. However, the requirements for the PSUs or post-graduate courses may differ according to the institutions. It is also said that GATE scores are valid for only a year for most PSU’s. Even if there are no limitations to the number of times a candidate can apply for the GATE exams, there is a limit to the number of times a candidate can appear for the GATE exams in a year. Since the exams are conducted only once a year, candidates can also appear for the GATE exams only once within the year.
