SBI Clerk examination is conducted by State Bank of India in the month of April. Candidates who are appearing for the SBI Clerk examination should know the exam pattern and selection process. The Selection process of SBI Clerk:
There are four steps for the selection of the personnel for the clerical posts in SBI, they are as follows:
Step 1: Preliminary examination consists of 100 objective questions having a duration of 1 hour and it has three tests including English Language, Reasoning Ability, Numerical Ability. Candidates have to qualify in each of the three tests by securing the qualifying marks which is decided by the bank and those who score these marks are selected fro the next step of the selection process.
Step 2: Those candidates who have qualified the preliminary examination by obtaining the qualifying marks decided by the Bank are allowed for the Mains examination. The Mains examination consists of 200 marks having a duration of 2 hours and 40 minutes. The Mains examination has four sections General/ Financial Awareness, Reasoning Ability, Quantitative Aptitude, English Language. A penalty of 0.25 marks for every wrong attempt.
The examination is objective type except for the English language. Candidates have to score minimum percentage marks on aggregate. Those who will qualify the Mains examination are allowed for the next step.
Step 3: This step consists of a test of knowledge of the Official / Local language. Candidates who have certificates of proof that they have studied official (local) language till the 10th standard will not have to give any language test.
For other candidates, the language test will be conducted at the time of the Interview. If the Interview is held and if the language is not conducted, it will be there before final selection and those candidates who couldn’t qualify the language test they are disqualified.
Step 4: This is the final step in the selection process here the marks of the Mains examination that are taken into consideration and the preliminary examination marks are not so important here, and according to the merit list of candidates decided by the cutoffs decided by the bank they are provided with an appointment.
