1. North India’s first River Rejuvenation Project Devika

Context
The Union Minister said that North India’s first river rejuvenation project ‘Devika’ had almost been completed.
About Project DevikaÂ
- The Devika project is being built on the lines of ‘Namami Gange‘ at a cost of around Rs 190 crore.
- This initiative is part of the Indian government’s National River Conservation initiative (NRCP).Â
- The Urban Environmental Engineering Department (UEED) is working on liquid waste management as part of the revitalization project by constructing a network of pipes and manholes.

About River Devika
- River Devika is considered the sister of the sacred Ganga river.
- The Devika river originates from the hilly Suddha Mahadev temple in the Udhampur district of Jammu and Kashmir.
- It flows down towards western Punjab where it merges with the Ravi river.

Context
The Minister of Cooperation Minister launched the digital portal of the Central Registrar of Cooperative Societies (CRCS) office in Pune, Maharashtra.Â

- Maharashtra was the starting point for the nation’s cooperative culture. The Maharashtra cooperative model is propelling the cooperative movement in the country.Â
- The Multi State Cooperatives’ Central Registrar (CRCS) office is transitioning to a fully digital operation.
- According to the Union Minister of Cooperation, the Prime Minister thought long and hard about the “Sahkar Se Samriddhi” initiative.Â
- The Union Home Minister and Minister of Cooperation said that the cooperative movement cannot move forward without modernity, transparency and accountability.Â
Central Registrar of Cooperative Societies office (CRCS)
- The Central Registrar of Cooperative Societies is appointed under Article 243ZH(f) of the Constitution.
- It is the statutory organisation in charge of Multi State Cooperative Societies (MSCS) registration and associated processes.Â
- According to the Constitution, cooperative organisations with goals limited to a single state are administered by the state government’s cooperative statutes.
- The Multi-State Co-operative Societies Act 2002 governs cooperative societies whose goals are limited to more than one state.
