The Startup20 Shikhar Summit, organized by the Startup20 Engagement Group under the India G20 Presidency, concluded in Gurugram.
Details:
- The two-day summit served as a platform for fostering innovations, collaborations, knowledge sharing, and strategic alliances within the global startup ecosystem.
- The torch was officially passed on to Brazil as the country has the G20 presidency for the next year and has committed to continue the Startup20 initiative in 2024.
- The Startup20 Gurugram Shikhar Summit serves as a critical platform for the startup ecosystem, ecosystem builders, industry experts, government, policymakers, and thought leaders to collaborate and shape the trajectory of startups on a global scale.
4. G-20 Research and Innovation Initiative (RIIG) Summit
Syllabus: GS-2, Bilateral, regional and global groupings and agreements involving India and/or affecting India’s interests.

Mains: India’s G20 Presidency
Context:
The RIIG Summit started in Mumbai.
Details:
- India has taken forward the Research and Innovation Initiative (RIIG) during its Presidency in 2023 under the theme “Research and Innovation for Equitable Society”.
- A total of 5 RIIG meetings/conferences were hosted by India during 2023 under this theme.
- The RIIG Inception Meeting was held in Kolkata, followed by 4 thematic conferences:
- Ranchi (Theme: Materials for Sustainable Energy)
- Dibrugarh (Theme: Circular Bioeconomy)
- Dharamshala (Theme: Eco-Innovations for Energy Transition)
- Diu (Theme: Sustainable Blue-economy)
- This meeting marks the culmination of the G-20 science engagements that took place through a series of meetings in different parts of India during India’s G-20 Presidency in 2023.
