Key Details:
- Union Home Minister and Minister of Cooperation, Amit Shah attended the 49th Dairy Industry Conference organised by the Indian Dairy Association (IDA) as the chief guest at Gandhinagar, Gujarat.
- In his address he mentioned that India’s dairy sector has progressed at an annual rate of 6.6 percent in the last decade with milk processing capacity of about 126 million liters per day, which is the highest in the world.
- This year’s conference would be the first post pandemic physical meet focused on the theme “India Dairy to the world: Opportunities & Challenges”.
- The conference will be a platform for all professionals to come together and discuss global dairy trends, farm innovations, sustainability within the sector, climate change, nutrition, and health in India with the singular objective of making India the mecca of dairy innovations and solutions.
Indian Dairy Association:
- Established in 1948, Indian Dairy Association (IDA) is the apex body of the dairy industry in India.
- The members are from the cooperatives, MNCs, corporate bodies, private institutions, educational institutions, government and public sector units.
- IDA functions very closely with the dairy producers, professionals & planners, scientists & educationists, institutions and organisations associated with the development of dairying in India.
- The Association is managed by an apex policy making body called the Central Executive Committee (CEC). The CEC is headed by a President and supported by two Vice-Presidents and 19 Executive Committee Members.
- The IDA’s Head Quarter is in Delhi and the zonal branches are in Bangalore, Kolkata, Mumbai and Delhi.

Key Details:
- The Ministry of Fisheries, Animal Husbandry and Dairying began ‘Sagar Parikrama’ Phase IV at Karwar, Karnataka.
- Sagar Parikrama is a program reflecting the far-reaching policy strategy of the government leading to the direct interaction with fishers and fish farmers to understand the issues of coastal areas and problems related to fishermen.
- Phases I, II & III have brought massive changes in the development strategy of fishermen and have given a deep insight into the understanding of the problems of fishermen.
