The Government of India has launched the ‘Sangathan Se Samriddhi’ campaign to empower marginalized rural households. The initiative aims to bring all eligible rural women into the fold of Self Help Groups (SHGs). Increasing Number of Women in SHGs:

• According to the Rural Development Ministry, the government is targeting to bring 10 crore women under the purview of SHGs from the existing nine crore. 
• The number of members in SHGs, which was just 2.35 crore in May 2014, has now crossed nine crore.

Empowering Women to Earn More:

• The Rural Development Ministry stated that the government has set a target for every woman associated with SHGs to be able to earn one lakh rupees per annum. 
• He urged women to produce millets to achieve this target.

Empowering Rural Women through SHGs:

• Self Help Groups (SHGs) play a significant role in empowering women in rural India by providing them with financial support and livelihood opportunities. 
• The SHGs are a group of women who pool their savings to meet their credit requirements.
• These groups enable women to access financial resources, such as loans, on reasonable terms to support their businesses or start new ones. 
• They also offer training, information, and technical support to help women become more self-reliant.
