Surbhi Singla completed her formal school education at Delhi Public School (DPS), Jalandhar, Punjab. After that, she went straight to IIT Delhi, where she earned her Bachelor of Technology in Chemical Engineering degree. After completing her graduation, she could’ve gone for working abroad, but she chose to study for the UPSC exam on her father’s advice. Surbhi failed to pass the IAS exam on her first three attempts. Subsequently, she passed the UPSC Civil Services Examination 2021 in her fourth attempt, passing all three prelims, mains, and interview stages.

Ms. Surbhi Singla’s path to achievement was not without setbacks, as she has experienced failure throughout her life. Although failing to pass the IAS exam in her first three attempts was a setback for her, she maintained her determination and had continual support from her parents, ensuring that she did not lose track of her preparation and continued to study. Surbhi got an All India Rank of 75 on her fourth attempt at the civil services test. While the specifics of her preparation strategy are not yet known, However when it comes to her path, it is apparent that she must have put in a significant amount of time studying for the UPSC syllabus. Coming from a technical background, she was unfamiliar with studying social science subjects in such depth.
