The UPSC encourages women to apply for civil services to have gender balance.
The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) has said that the Central government is making efforts to have gender-balance at work and hence encouraging women candidates to apply for the civil services examination.
Every year, the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) conducts civil services examination to recruit candidates to various civil services posts that includes Indian Administrative Service (IAS), Indian Foreign Service (IFS) and Indian Police Service (IPS), among others.
The UPSC in one of its notifications released for this year’s test had mentioned that “The government strives to have a workforce that reflects gender balance and women candidates are encouraged to apply,”
The UPSC has announced in its recent notification that for Civil Services Exam 2017 the number of vacancies to be filled in various posts are 980.
The civil services examination is conducted every year in three stages:
- Preliminary
- Mains
- Personality Test/Interview
The UPSC as declared earlier, the civil services (IAS Prelims) exam for 2017 will be conducted on 18th June 2017.
It is advised to candidates who wish to write the exam in their desired UPSC Examination Centre should apply at the earliest as the centers allotted to the candidates will be on ‘first-apply-first-allot’ basis.
The total number of UPSC Examination Centers where the prelims exam will be held for this year i.e. 2017 is 72.
- Note:
The candidates should note that there will be a maximum number of candidates allotted to each UPSC Examination Centers except the centers in following cities Chennai, Dispur, Kolkata and Nagpur as mentioned in the UPSC 2017 Notification. - The commission will not entertain any request for change in the exam centre.
The last for filling the UPSC Civil Services Exam 2017 Prelims Application Form will be on 17th March 2017.
