Details:
- Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare and NAFED has established the Millets Experience Centre. It is the first of its kind initiative at Dilli Haat, Delhi.
- Its aim is to raise awareness about Millets and encourage its adoption among the general public.
- It will promote the dietary benefits of millet or ‘Shree Anna’ as a nutritional powerhouse.
- It should be noted that India is at the forefront of the celebration of the International Year of Millets (IYOM).
- Apart from the unique dining experience, customers can purchase ready-to-eat and ready-to-cook products from local millet startups at the MEC.

2. National Manufacturing Innovation Survey (NMIS) 2021-22

Prelims: National Manufacturing Innovation Survey (NMIS) 2021-22.
Details:
- The Department of Science and Technology(DST) released the “National Manufacturing Innovation Survey (NMIS) 2021-22: Summary for Policymakers” on 27th April 2023.
- The NMIS survey is a joint study between DST and the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO).
- The findings of the survey offer great insights into the status of Indian manufacturing. It also provides a detailed analysis of the innovation ecosystem in the country.
- It was highlighted that the learnings of the survey can add significant value to the Make-in-India programme.
- The survey had two specific components:
- Firm-level survey
- It captured the data associated with the process of innovation, access to finance, resources, information for innovation, etc.
- Sectorial Systems of Innovation (SSI) survey
- It mapped the manufacturing innovation system and analyzed the relative barriers to innovation, convergence or divergence of current policy measures, etc.
- Firm-level survey
- Around 8087 firms participated in the firm-level survey and approximately 5,488 firms and non-firms participated in the SSI survey.
3. Maiden Sea Trials of Imphal
Syllabus: GS 3, Security.
Prelims: Imphal – Stealth Destroyer.
Details:
- Indian Navy’s third indigenous stealth destroyer of the Project 15B class known as Imphal sailed for its maiden sea trials.
- It is designed in-house by the Navy’s Warship Design Bureau and constructed by Mazagon Dock Ltd.Â
- Imphal symbolizes the importance and contribution of the North-Eastern region and the state of Manipur toward national security and development.
- It is an important milestone that significantly contributes to Indian Navy’s combat capabilities.
