1. 106 MoUs signed on the occasion of Akhil Bhartiya Shiksha Samagam 2023

Context:

In celebration of the National Education Policy’s third anniversary and the Akhil Bhartiya Shiksha Samagam 2023, the Ministry of Education, Skill Development & Entrepreneurship inked 106 Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs). 

Significance

  • The MoUs cover collaborations with both public and private organisations to promote innovation, study, and information sharing across several fields.
  • Under the leadership of the Indian Prime Minister, the country’s current educational and business leaders are taking action to cultivate the future leaders through this significant occasion.
  • India is to become a centre for research and innovation thanks to the NEP. The policy has given both old knowledge systems and cutting-edge technologies equal weight. 
  • The PM also requested that schools educate kids on issues like sustainable energy, disaster preparedness, and climate change. 
  • PM Modi also unveiled curriculum guides for skills and education in 12 Indian languages.

Akhil Bhartiya Shiksha Samagam 2023

  • Akhil Bhartiya Shiksha Samagam 2023 falls on the third anniversary of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020. 
  • At the conclusion of the Akhil Bhartiya Shiksha Samagam (ABSS) 2023, leaders in education committed to working together to make India into a just and thriving knowledge society.

2. ULLAS: Nav Bharat Saksharta Karyakram

Context:

The mobile application for ULLAS: Nav Bharat Saksharta Karyakram was introduced by the Union Ministers of Education and of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship.

ULLAS: Nav Bharat Saksharta Karyakram

  • The ULLAS initiative stands for Understanding Lifelong Learning for All in Society.
  • It has the potential to completely transform education and literacy in the country.
  • The ULLAS mobile app is an important step in maximising technology’s potential to enable widespread access to basic literacy. 
  • This dynamic and user-friendly software will give students access to a variety of online learning tools via the NCERT DIKSHA site. 
  • Both surveyors and self-registration are options for registering learners and volunteers using the ULLAS app.

Significance of ULLAS App

  • The ULLAS will place special emphasis on advancing practical literacy, job-related skills, and empowering citizens to participate in nation-building. 
  • In communities all over India, it also promotes a culture of ongoing learning and knowledge-sharing, he continued.
  • The ULLAS app gives citizens the power of education, lighting the spark of curiosity and learning in each person, creating Jan Jan Sakshar.
  • The programme would inspire volunteers to participate as a duty or Kartavya Bodh for the betterment of the country.

Context:

The Union Minister of State for Electronics and IT and Skill Development and Entrepreneurship addressed the second day of the three-day SemiconIndia 2023 conference. 

SemiconIndia Conference 2023

  • SemiconIndia Conference 2023 was launched by India’s Prime Minister at the Mahatma Mandir in Gandhinagar, Gujarat. 
  • The conference’s theme is “Catalysing India’s Semiconductor Ecosystem.” 
  • It displays India’s semiconductor strategy and policy, which aims to establish India as a major center for the design, production, and advancement of semiconductor technology.
