1. National Logistics Policy, 2022

Syllabus – GS 3; Indian Economy and issues relating to Growth, Development and Employment..

Prelims – National Logistics Policy.

Context – National Logistics Policy – an initiative to transform the country into a global logistics hub.

Details – 

  • The Union Cabinet approved the National Logistics Policy.
  • The National Logistics Policy aims to develop a technologically enabled, integrated, sustainable, cost-effective, trustworthy logistics ecosystem for accelerated and inclusive growth.  
  •  Targets of the National Logistics Policy –
    • Reducing the cost of logistics in India and making it at par with the global standards by 2030.
    • To raise India’s Logistics Performance Index (LPI) ranking so that it is amongst the top 25 nations by 2030.
    • Creating a data-driven Decision Support System (DSS) which will help to develop a robust logistical system. 
  • The important initiatives under this policy to ensure maximum outreach are –
    • Unified Logistics Interface Platform (ULIP) – it will bring all the digital services related to the transportation sector into a single portal.
    • Ease of Logistics Services Platform (e-Logs) – to resolve issues by reaching out to the government.
    • E-handbook on warehousing.
    • Training courses on PM Gati Shakti
    • Logistics on the i-Got platform.

2. Curtain Raiser Ceremony – Nistar & Nipun

Syllabus – GS 3, Achievements of Indians in science & technology; indigenization of technology and developing new technology.

Prelims – Nistar & Nipun

Context – Curtain raiser ceremony of Nistar & Nipun.

Details

  • Nistar & Nipun – Two Diving Support Vessels (DSV) are indigenously developed and built by Hindustan Shipyard Limited (HSL) at Vishakapatnam for the Indian Navy.
  • These vessels are 118.4 m long, 22.8 m at the broadest point and have a displacement of 9,350 tons. 
  • Features of Nistar & Nipun –
    • Capability of sustained patrolling.
    • Conducting search & rescue operations.
    • Conducting helicopter operations at the high sea.
  • These DSVs are made from 80% indigenous material.

3. Convergence module between AIF, PMFME & PMKSY

Syllabus – GS 2, Government policies and interventions for development in various sectors.

Context – Convergence module between AIF, PMFME & PMKSY for the welfare of the people.

Details

  • Launch of Convergence module between Agriculture Infrastructure Fund (AIF) Scheme, Pradhan Mantri Micro Food Entreprises Upgradation Scheme (PMFME) and Pradhan Mantri Kisan Sampada Yojana (PMKSY).
  • This is in accordance with the Prime Minister’s vision to run the government collectively for the benefit of the people. This convergence module will benefit different sections of the country including farmers and small-scale entrepreneurs in the processing industry.
  • The goal of this initiative is to make the benefits of the schemes reach all the beneficiaries and empower them financially, technically and professionally.

Agriculture Infrastructure Fund (AIF) –

  • AIF was launched in July 2020.
  • It aims to provide medium-long term debt financing facilities for investments in projects for post-harvest management infrastructure and community farming assets.

Pradhan Mantri Formalisation of Micro Food Entreprises Upgradation Scheme (PMF ME) –

  • PMFME was launched in June 2020 under the Atma Nirbhar Bharat campaign, by the Ministry of Food Processing Industries.
  • It aims to enhance the competitiveness of individual micro-enterprises, which will provide financial, technical and commercial assistance for the up-gradation of micro food processing enterprises in the country.
  • Under the PMFME scheme, a 35% credit-linked subsidy is being provided for the setting up of micro food processing units with a maximum subsidy limit of Rs 10 lakh and common infrastructure with a maximum subsidy of Rs 3 crore.

Pradhan Mantri Kisan Sampada Yojana (PMKSY) –

  • PMKSY is a centrally sponsored scheme launched in 2015.
  • It was formulated by the amalgamation of schemes – Accelerated Irrigation Benefit Programme (AIBP), Integrated Watershed Management Programme (IWMP) and On Farm Water Management (OFWM).
