UPSC Civil Services: Conduct Civil Services Exam In Mother Tongue, Demands CPI-M Member In Rajya Sabha.
Ritabrta Banerjee (CPI-M) a member in Rajya Sabha on Wednesday March 22, 2017 demanded to allow the use of mother tongue to write civil services main exam. His demand received all-round support with aplomb by all the members of Rajya Sabha. As the Ritabrta Banerjee (CPI-M) called this demand for ‘upholding of linguistic rights’.
The issue was raised by him during the Zero Hour and he also stated that the CSAT Paper of Civil Services Prelims Exam which was conducted in English was biased against Hindi and the other eight Scheduled Languages. Since then the CSAT Paper has been made non-compulsory but he also added that it had affected the aspirants who lost an opportunity since before the paper was made non-compulsory.
According to one of the sources, Ritabrata Banerjee (CPI-M) also said that the government was yet to announce the compensatory attempt for those aspirants who were at the receiving end of the linguistic bias. He also said that the candidates should be allowed to write the exam in their mother tongue.
His demand was supported by all the opposition party members in the Zero Hour of the Upper House of Parliament.Â
