Details:
- On the occasion of International Women’s Day (8th March), Union Minister Shri Hardeep Singh Puri launched Swachhotsav.
- It is a three-week women-led swachhata campaign under the Swachh Bharat Mission Urban 2.0.Â
- The initiative intends to recognize and celebrate the transition from women in sanitation to women-led sanitation. It also aims to provide a leadership role to women in making the mission of garbage-free cities (GFC) a success.
- Since the launch of the Swachh Bharat Mission in 2014, women are leading in various fields like operating material recovery facilities, launching waste-to-wealth startups, running sewage treatment plants, and generating employment opportunities for others.
- The first edition of Women Icons leading Sanitation & Waste Management (WINS) Challenge-2023 is also announced on the eve of Women’s Day.
- It will recognize women entrepreneurs or women-led enterprises that are working to achieve urban cleanliness.
- Moreover, Swachhata Yatra will also begin on 10th March 2023. It will conclude on 30th March.
- It should be noted that 30th March is declared International Day of Zero Waste by the United Nations General Assembly.
- On 30th March, Swachh Mashaal March will be organized.
- During the campaign period, cities will create a network of 75000 Garbage Free City Influencers across the country in sanitation and waste management.
- The initiative not only aims to create a peer learning network but also encourages women to join the urban swachhata mission.

2. Khelo India Dus ka Dum tournament

Details:
- Khelo India Dus ka Dum is being organized from 10th to 31st March 2023. It is launched by the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports.
- It is being conducted on the occasion of International Women’s Day.
- A budget of Rs 50 Lakh has been allocated for the tournament.
- The tournament will feature 10 sports that will be held in 10 cities in India. Around 15000 women athletes will participate in the events.
- The 10 sports which will be covered include Kho Kho, Wushu, Wrestling, Fencing, Archery, Swimming, Basketball, Judo, Athletics, and Yoga.
