UPSC EXAM – PRELIMS PAPER I AND PAPER II SYLLABUS

UPSC (CSE) Prelims Syllabus Pattern Civil Service IAS-Prelims-Examination     The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) Preliminary Examination for Civil Services is kind of screening test only; the marks scored in the UPSC Preliminary Examination by the candidates will be declared to be qualified to the Main Examination but will not count up for determining the final order of merit of the candidates.   The Preliminary Examination comprises of two papers i.e., General Studies Paper-I and CSAT Paper-II with objective questions or generally called as multiple choice questions (MCQ).   Both the papers carry 200 marks each that sum up to 400 marks, the civil services preliminary exam is aimed to be as a screening test only. In the CSAT Paper 2 of Civil Services preliminary Exam, the candidates will have to score a minimum 33 percent of marks, whereas, the marks of General Studies Paper-I will be taken into account for ranking in the prelims based on which the candidates will qualify in UPSC Mains Exam (written).   The CSAT Paper-II covers the analytical or as commonly known as an aptitude test.  In this paper, candidates have to score at least 33 percent to qualify for the Civil Services Mains Exam.   Candidates who qualify for UPSC Mains Exam of a particular year will be eligible to write the mains exam of that particular year only.     Scheme of Preliminary Examination
